Questions... just behind the mirror

WE HAD SOME QUESTIONS.....


1. Name the type(s) of mirror that forms...
     (A)A real image?
            Concave mirrors. Only a concave mirror can create a real image, due to the light rays converging, meaning they actually recombine back together.

     (B)A virtual image?
          Convex mirrors. The image is always seen behind the mirror.

     (C)A virtual image that is larger than the object?
           Concave mirrors can make the image larger.

     (D)A virtual image that is the same size as the object?
           Convex mirrors make you look the same size.
             (Virtual image- An image located where reflected rays only seem to originate) 

2. Imagine you have sprayed a bowl with shiny, reflective paint.
     (A)Which part of the bowl serves as a convex mirror?
           The part of the bowl that doesn't hold the food.

     (B)Which part of the bowl serves as a concave mirror?
           The part of the bowl that holds the food.

     (C)How do you hold the bowl to see an inverted image of you?
           You hold the bowl

     (D)How do you hold the bowl to see a larger, upright image of you?
          You hold the bowl so the base is facing you

     (E)How should you hold the bowl to see a smaller, upright image of your face?
          You should hold the bowl so you are facing the part which the food goes into.

The man is explaining what it looks like when you mix colours, like red and green, and blue and green.

Blue, green, red, yellow,white ,purple.They are taking some colours away to make different colours. I like it they are funny.

Spring.... Break????

TODAY in Science class, we got some of our previous projects, notes and worksheets together for our parent teacher interviews!!!

PS: ITS SPRING BREAK TOMORROW!!!!

                        -Worksheets

 

AFTER THAT...

    We continued on our project on BIOLUINESCENCE!!!
     My groups animal is the PINECONE FISH!!!

 

We were supposed to get some information about it, such as:

       Name: Pinecone fish (Aka. Monocentride or Monocentris Japonica)
       Facts: -It is aggressive
                  -It is orange by night and green-blue by day
                  -It illuminates with two headlights on its face
                  -Luminous bacteria colonize two organs on the fishes lower jaw and produces a beam of light to help find its prey
      Lives: In the Indo-Pacific ocean to south Africa
 
              ADVANTAGES Of having bioluminescence:
                  -Able to find prey easily
                        *Able to STAY ALIVE
                  -Able to see easier
                    
 
              DISADVANTAGES Of having bioluminescence
                 -Predators can find them easier
                 -Prey are able to tell when predator is coming

Learn me up a CARTESIAN PLANE!!

TODAY.... We were all s p a c e d   o u t because, well, its a FRIDAY and were were all ZOMBIES like:

ANYWAYS:

We all practiced and did more work on CARTESIAN PLANES!! We just LOVE our Cartesian planes!! We are (AS I AM TYPING THIS) working on how to get the axis 'Y' coordinates using an EQUATION.

THAT EQUATION IS: Y=MX+B

FOR YOUR INFORMATION:

-Y & X are the Axis' on a Cartesian plane
-M is the amount that the line heads up by or down by
-B is where the line crosses over the Y axis

WE ALSO WATCHED A VIDEO!!!





We are now practicing!
One problem we had to solve was 'What Is The'Y' Coordinates?'...

Three things that were comfirmed in the video:
-Buoyancy causes us to stay afloat
-The amount of water that is displaced weighs the same as the object displacing it
-Things displace as much water as they weigh.


 Three things that I learned because I watched the video:
-The shape of an object affects buoyancy
-Some things are neither buoyant or not buoyant (neutrally buoyant)
-Buoyancy can be affeced by differant substances

-Pressure is a VERY strong force when confined
-Water pressure gets stronger, the deeper you get into water
-Pressure is a force!!!
 Three things that I learned because I watched the video:
-Pressure allows us to hold up objects by just using pressure
-Air has pressure
-There is no air pressure in bubbles

NEW UNIT!! Biology!!! WE ARE TAKING BIO!!

NEW UNIT!!! BIOLOGY!!!
Today we started a new unit!!  We started off by reviewing what we visited so far!
We reviewed ~The Six Characteristics of life
                      ~Cell Theory
                      ~Animal and Plant cells
                      ~Medicine Wheel
                      ~ How Cells Move ---How Cells Move (Different blog)
                      ~The Heart
When we finished, we decided to watch "The Heart" By Mr Parr.

We then made our own Wordle Review! This is the outcome of our hard work!! We all carefully chose words and (of course) we all had our input on the colours.

OUR HEART!!!

This is our heart! We are finished and this is our final copy. We all agreed that this is the best that we could posibly do. It follows all of the standards that are needed.

BY ME!! was responsible for drawing the original copy of the heart, and labeling most of the diagrams.


Dez had drawn the rough copy of the internal part of the heart, decorated, and she also wrote down the way the blood flows.


Josee outlined the second heart of the good copy, helped colour, decorate and read the information for BY ME!! to write it down.


Landen helped colour, outline, and he read off information.

Diffusion conclusion! The lab report by Dez!


Diffusion Conclusion

ABSTRACT- It’s amazing that when you paint your nails in the house, how the fumes spread throughout your home and soon enough, you have a bunch of annoying family, bugging you to stop! Ever wonder how those dreadful fumes travel right to your family’s noses? It is the work of diffusion!

          HYPOTHESIS- Science is so overrated. You think of those people in lab coats, looking over gizmos beeping at any given moment. Really, it is as simple as a ‘little’ perfume spreading throughout the classroom. Everyone can smell it but how long does it take to flow everywhere in the room? My first hypothesis was that it would take about 5 minutes… I wasn’t completely wrong.

          PROCEDURE- We came up with this awesome experiment, as a class, to test how long it takes perfume particles to diffuse 6meters and 69centimeters. We used a timer and when the people at the end of the distance smelled the scent, the timer went off. The surroundings of our experiment were in a classroom, with a regular heating system. It took a while for even the people in between the distance to smell it!

          DATA- The data we observed included the 2minutes and 3seconds that it took for the perfume particles to travel and the 6meters and 69centimeters as the distance for the particles to travel through.

          CONCLUSION- Now that we know that scent particles do diffuse throughout places that are available to it. Now that we know this, we should just go outside and paint our nails! We can give those particles a chance to diffuse across the universe!

Lab reports! Hot off the press! Experiment Success!!!

Today we did an awesome experiment!

This was a part of our unit that demonstrates diffusion of cells. We used the scientific method and documented the experiment.
1 (Ask a question) Togather, as a class, we came up with the question "How quickly does diffusion happen?".
2 (Form a hypothesis) We all did a seperate hypothesis, my hypothesis was "I think it will take at most 5 minutes for the perfume particles to diffuse."
3 (Create an experiment) As a class, we came up with the experiment to take a perfume bottle and sprayed it twice. We would use a timer to time how long it takes for the perfume particles to travel from one side of the room, to the other! In the end, it took 2 minutes and three seconds!
4 (Observe and record data) We all observed the experiment and the data was in the time. '2 minutes and 3 seconds'.
5 (Analyze and conclude) We conclude that it would not be safe to release a scent without people in the class not smelling it within a matter of minutes.
6 (Communicate the results) We are all now making lab reports based on this experiment!
We also learned how to make people want to read our reports!
We learned that we need:  -A catchy title
                           -A abstract sentance that relates to the title and connects it to our experiments
                            -A summery of our experiment and the procedure taken
                            -A summery of the data taken
                            -A conclusion
                             - We also need to keep in mind our audience
