Science Olmpics

Yesterday my class went to the science Olympics in Glenella, grades 4-8.

The first activity we decided to do at the Science Olympics was blow up balloons and wet the tips of skewers and try to stick the skewers in the balloon at each ends without popping the balloons. we wet the tips of the skewers with dish soap.

The seconds activity we did was well we tried to change the temperature in a barrel from hot to cold. We had a little bit of water in the barrel and it went over a heater which made it really hot and then we put the barrel in a little kitty pool using two pieces of wood so they wouldn't burn their hands. Then quickly they had to add some snow and water from the field since it was really cold. It didn't work so we tried a second time later in the afternoon but that didn't work either.

The third activity was build race cars out of blocks of wood, 4 nails & plastic wheels. We used other things like markers and stickers to design it then they gave us  play dough so we can make it heavier in various places to make it faster to win the races.

The last activity we did was building bridges out of toothpicks and marshmallows. When we were finished building the bridges we got to test them on the height and stability.

Explain (in your own words) why it is better to wear light colours (such as white and pale yellow) during the summer and better to wear dark colours (like black and charchole gray) in the winter.

What do you call the repetitive motion of a wave(suck as the way a cork may bob up and down in the ocean?
