-when you drop the Mentos into soda, the gelatin and gum arabic from the dissolving candy breaks the surface tension on the pop.
-each mento has lots of tiny pits where carbon dioxide bubbles likes to form.
-as son as the Mentos hit the pop, bubbles form all over the candy.
-when all the gas is released, it pushes all the liquid up and out of the bottle and into a soda blast.
-people choose to use diet coke or diet pepsi because people think that it as somethng to do with artificial sweatener.

Great job blogging about your science experiment! One thing I'll note is that people like to use the diet sodas with artificial sweeteners because they aren't sticky and as messy to clean up as sodas with regular sugar. I'm very excited to hear how the experiment goes and what you find out with the brands. Have your teacher tweet me again @SteveSpangler when you post your results. Awesome scientific work.

Diet Coke and Mentos is always a fun experiment! I'm very impressed (and jealous!) that you had Steve Spangler comment on your blog.
